Douglas D. Ayre, OD
Dr. Douglas D. Ayre grew up in Northwest Kansas in the small town of Bird City. He earned his undergraduate bachelors degree from Kansas State Universtiy. He then attended Nova Southeastern University School of Optometry in Miami, Florida. Dr. Ayre is a 1996 graduate and earned induction into the Beta Sigma Kappa Honor Society for academic excellence. His optometric education includes rotations through the prestigious Bascolm Palmer Eye Institute in Miami, Florida and the Aker-Kasten Cataract and Laser Institute in Boca Raton, Florida. Dr. Ayre is an active member of the American Optometric Association on the state and national levels. In 2007 he was presented with the Kansas Young Optometrist of the Year by the Kansas Optometric Association. Dr. Ayre is the current President of the Kansas Board of Optometry which oversees all Kansas Optometrists.
Dr. Ayre's family includes his wife Jane and their four children, Abigail, Emma, Kennedy and Callen. His local involvement includes serving on numerous boards and committees incuding the Community Board for the American State Bank in Larned and Great Bend. He is also a member of the Kansas State University Board of Trustees. In his spare time he enjoys fishing, hunting, snow and water skiing, boating, golfing and especially spending time with his family. A diehard follower of Kansas State Athletics, Dr. Ayre and his family enjoy football games both at home and away and enjoy travelling to different football venues.

Each one will guide you through our vast assortment of the latest in eye care technology. From digital eye glass testing to laser glaucoma and macular degeneration detection, the patient care coordinators are trained to help Dr. Ayre detect problems at their earliest stages.
